Description
A dense, tough, robust and spreading groundcover, Dwarf White Stripe Bamboo lights up the garden with pure white and green striped young foliage that matures to cream and bluish-green in summer. A great accent or solo plant in containers. When provided shade during the afternoon, the leaves will remain brightly variegated throughout the summer. Though not necessary, cutting back old growth in the early spring will result in beautiful fresh new growth that persists throughout the year. Typically staying below 2 feet in height in our gardens, the plant spreads like other running bamboo by rhizomes almost indefinitely with regular moisture. Plants are remarkably drought tolerant once established and the vigorous spread can be limited by withholding water.Â

Growing Preferences
Dwarf White Stripe Bamboo grows well in most any most but well-drained soil of average fertility and mostly sun to part shade. We think it looks its best with a little shade or filtered sun during the mid-afternoon hours. This species will spread to form large colonies. If planted in an area where unlimited spread is not acceptable, underground barriers can be installed to control spread. Can be trimmed or mowed to the ground every year to stimulate all fresh new growth for the current season.
How To Grow Bamboo Plants Indoors
Dwarf White Stripe Bamboo is a running bamboo, which means it spreads, and this one will spread far and wide if not controlled. If you intend on using it in a small space we suggest the use of Bamboo Root Barrier to control spread.
Please Note:Â To look its best, we suggest using a mower, hedge clippers, or other cutting tools to cut White Stripe Bamboo plants back to the ground annually in late winter to encourage all-new fresh variegated leaves. Otherwise, there may be a mixture of older leaves, which have faded more to green, and new more brightly colored variegated leaves.Â
