Description
Way back in the 1995 ‘New Gold’ Lantana won the Georgia Gold Medal Award for its outstanding hardiness, attributes, characteristics and overall performance in the garden. It has stood the test of time for good reason and is still considered to be one of if not the best of the low-growing hardy lantanas. New Gold is one of if not the most profuse bloomers of all the Lantana varieties we grow in our gardens. All summer long and well into fall the trailing mounds are literally smothered in bright golden-yellow flower clusters that butterflies and hummingbirds are sure to find and flock to!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a trailing mound 12 to 18 inches tall and spreading 3 to 4 feet wide over time, New Gold Lantana is ideal for use as an accent, as a low border, in groupings or mass plantings, or to cascade over a wall in sunny landscape borders. It also does very well as a solo or combined with other plants in pots and hanging baskets. For those who live and garden above USDA Zone 8a, where this lantana is not reliably winter hardy, pots can be brought indoors during the winter. A fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, yellow theme gardens, sunny perennial gardens, cottage gardens and the Xerscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 18 to 24 inches solid mass plantings; 5 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 8a, where this Lantana variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
CAUTION! Avoid pruning hardy Lantana in the fall as doing so almost always ensures death of the plant! Wait until new growth begins to emerge in spring to remove dead stems. A mid-summer shearing is okay.
Hardy Lantana are very easy to grow in most any moist to somewhat dry well-drained soil of average to even poor fertility and full to mostly sun. Constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. Some light shade is tolerated but plant will grow more dense and produce the most flowers throughout the long flowering season (June to Frost) in full to mostly sun. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best performance.

I bought some lantana for the flower bed I wanted filled with something that comes back. I apparently picked the right thing.
When they got here some were slapped so hard by the postal carriers that it’s was literally sticks.
I emailed these guys with pics and they said please give a chance. the heat about killed them and the carrier finished them off.
Anyways. I agreed because being into gardening you know this kind of stuff. And a lot of stuff will come back stronger then ever. Only thing I did was not repot them until they came out of shock. And boy did they.
They already have flowers on them and I have only had them for a month or so.
Love the customer service here!!——————————————————–So sorry for the shipping problem! But thanks so much for the photos! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG

This lantana bloomed shortly after planting and is a lovely bright yellow. It will hang over a low wall surrounding a patio. I am in zone 7B and this is hardy to 8 but I am leaving it in ground over the winter in hopes that it will survive. We seem to be edging into Zone 8 so I am hopeful. It is the color and size I wanted for that spot and am curious to see if it makes it over winter. For now it is just right.—————————————————Keep us posted, they are pretty tough! Don’t prune until you see new growth in the Spring….We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
