Description
Silver Dragon Liriope is a moderate to fast growing, grass-like perennial which forms spreading clumps of narrow, green leaves striped with silver and ivory, which looks like a solid patch of white in the landscape when it fills in. Erect flower spikes with deep lavender-blue flowers rise above the foliage in late summer followed by bluish-black berries. The foliage provides a stunning contrast with dark foliage plants. Spreads fast under shallow-rooted trees.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Silver Dragon Liriope is a fast spreading groundcover plant growing 12 inches tall and spreading 24 inches or more. It is ideal for use as a groundcover or border along paths and walkways or around patios, or in home foundation plantings. A nice underplanting for small trees such as Japanese Maples an as a colorful and grassy accent in combination container gardens. Â
Suggested Spacing:Â 12 to 15 inches apart for mass plantings or bordersÂ

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of  USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5b, where this Liriope is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Silver Dragon Liriope is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun or shade. Tolerates dry soil conditions when established. Constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic.Â

I purchased these Liriope because I had them at my home in Paradise, CA which burned in 2018. I’m trying to replace some of the plants that I had in zone 9, and now I live in zone 8a/9 depending on the websites for plants.
I came across Wilson Bros. and gave them a try. I have never, and I mean never, purchased a plant through the mail. Where I lived in Paradise, we had a local gardener around the corner. Where I live now, is a bit in the sticks plus with Covid, I realized that I needed to try online plants.
The Wilson Bros. website is easy to use, and to coordinate plants that might go together with their “other customers also purchased” or “may we suggest”. I have gone to their site for plants time and again and I have never been disappointed. Every plant that I have purchased, and there have been a minimum of 20, have arrived well packaged, and cared for. My Liriope looked very healthy and I know that I will have blooms this spring because they have retained their blades of leaves (that’s if I can keep the dogs from tromping on them). If anyone has questions or concerns about buying from Wilson Bros. please read this review. I’m very serious about my plants, and they are very serious about the plants they send and the customer.—————————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the great review and the kind words! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
