Description
A multiple award-winning landscape rose with impeccable disease resistance, the Sunorita Rose shows off red-orange buds that open to multicolor fragrant blooms in shades of orange, gold and yellow. The showy blooms are produced continuously from late spring or early summer all the way to frost. As a self-cleaner there’s no need for deadheading spent flowers. Black spot and powdery mildew resistant glossy dark green foliage serves as an excellent backdrop for the abundant blooms. At only 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, Sunorita is a good fit for smaller garden spaces. If you love the look of classic rose buds and blooms but prefer the easy care nature of shrub roses, look to Sunorita. Winner of American Rose Society’s 2022 Award of Excellence.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and wide, the Sunorita Rose is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings or as a colorful hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders and home foundation plantings. This rose is so reliable and attractive throughout the season we have no problem suggesting it for use in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to rose gardens, cottage gardens and gold or yellow theme gardens.
Growing Preferences
The Sunorita Rose is one of the the easiest roses you’ll ever grow. She is exceptionally easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. As with all other roses, to avoid powdery mildew on the leaves, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves. Afternoon shade or filtered sun is fine. We suggest a minimum of 6 hours of direct sun light for best flowering.
Maintenance is minimal. Sunorita Rose does not require pruning, however can benefit from it. To keep her full and bushy from year to year prune the branches back to about 15-18 inches above the ground in late winter or early spring. After this hard pruning, she will quickly flush out new growth and start blooming with the arrival of warmer temperatures. Deadheading spent flowers through the season is not necessary however will encourage more new buds and blooms.

Two of these colorful Sunoritas have found a place into my landscape this year. Both arrived in optimal condition and bloomed immediately and continuously. The flowers are a rainbow of sunset- yellow, red- orange, and reddish pinks. These roses blend well with Japanese Maple, Astilbe, Coral Bells, and Spirea too. And an added bonus- no trimming needed! Great trouble free, elegant addition to the garden!—————————————————————Thanks for the kind words and awesome review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I am an avid gardener, former licensed certified Texas nurseryman, and have ordered from various online sellers in the past. I have to say that every single order I have received from Wilson Bros Gardens, has been a refreshing surprise upon receipt. The plants arrive in excellent condition, but more importantly, I can actually see them! What I mean by that is when ordering from your competition, I sometimes feel as if I need to grab a microscope to see the plant material. Obviously, this is a bit of sarcasm, but in all seriousness, your plants are what someone would actually see if they bought from a local nursery. The size of the plant matches the size of the container. They are not little slips or tender twigs but are ready to go into the ground and be seen in the landscape design.
